How do I download my model?
After checkout, use the download link provided with your order. Download each file and save it in a location you will remember, such as your Downloads folder or desktop.
I downloaded the model, but I cannot find it. What should I do?
Check your browser's download list and your device's Downloads folder. The model is supplied as a PDF file. You can also search your device for recently downloaded PDF files.
How do I open the model?
Open the PDF with a current PDF reader, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader, Apple Preview, or the PDF viewer built into your web browser.
Where are the assembly instructions?
The first page of the kit contains an exploded assembly view. Cut out the pieces along the solid outside lines, score and fold the dotted lines, test-fit the parts, and then glue the pieces together. Begin with the main structure and add smaller details last.
What materials do I need?
You need scissors, glue, and paper if you purchased a download. Regular printer paper works, but cardstock around 55 lb produces a stronger model and is often easier to assemble. Children should use scissors with adult supervision.
Can a 10" × 13" kit print on a standard printer?
Yes. The 10" × 13" model is designed to print on standard 8½" × 11" paper. Larger base sections print on multiple sheets and are joined during assembly.
What is included in each kit?
Each kit includes the printable model pieces, an exploded assembly view, and background history that students can use as a starting point for further research and their report. The product photographs show models built from the supplied kit pieces.
How long does a model take to build?
Most kits take about 90 minutes to two hours to assemble. More complex professional kits can take three hours or longer. A separate diorama or additional scenery will add more time.
How are printed kits shipped?
Pre-printed kits are shipped within the continental United States. A flat $6 shipping charge is added automatically to shipped orders. Delivery time varies by destination and current carrier conditions. Choose Download if you need the project immediately.
Can I purchase a download outside the United States?
Yes. Download products are available worldwide because they are delivered electronically and do not require shipping. Pre-printed Shipped products are available only to customers in the United States.
What paper is used for pre-printed kits?
Pre-printed kits are produced in color on sturdy cardstock similar in weight to a business card.
May a print shop print my downloaded file?
Yes. If you do not have a suitable printer, a print shop may print the one copy permitted by the license for your order. The file remains for the purchaser's personal or classroom-project use and may not be redistributed.
What if the teacher says no kits are allowed?
Follow the teacher's instructions first. A kit can be used as a reference or tracing template only if the teacher permits it. Paper Models Online also offers a generic trace-and-cut mission project for assignments that allow templates but not pre-colored kits.
Are all models built to the same scale?
No. Each model is designed to make practical use of standard letter-size paper, so scales vary by subject. The size shown on a product page describes the approximate base size, not a universal architectural scale.
